Men of Christ Church Harpurhey and WW1

Parish War Memorial Unveiled

Serendipity has been at work again ... or maybe you would prefer to call it Providence .... this list was given to me out of the blue and I decided to make these web pages to honour the heroes on it ... and also the unknown heroes that gave their lives that we might live ......

This is the list of names remembered on the Honour Roll of Christ Church Harpurhey in 1931 - 134 names ... some men from the Parish died after the deadline for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to include their names but they are remembered because they served in the Great War and some men come home .... all of them are special men .... all of them brave !

Sunday December 6th 1931- Christ Church Harpurhey dedicated their War Memorial to the Men and Boys of the Parish - many people in the congregation had lost a love one ... some of them lost more than one ... it was a very emotional service that took place there that day.

May we always remember the sacrifices these men made and pray they did not die in vain. It is up to us, the living and descendants of these soldiers, to make sure their deaths are remembered, and the reason for their deaths. Some made it home and died years later, but still carried the scars of war.
